How to Earn Money as a Fitness Influencer

We’ll deal with the elephant in the room first. There are MANY fitness influencers out there. It is easily one of the fastest growing influencer areas at the moment. This means that if you’re planning on being successful and actually earning a living from your efforts, you’re going to need to be smart and stand out from the very large crowd.

The positive side of this t is that while it may be a very busy market, it’s busy because there is a huge demand. Most brands in the fitness space recognise the power of influencer and micro influencer marketing. While it will be no easy feat to get yourself to the point of earning from your health and fitness social media activity, it is very much achievable if you do things the right way.

Here are some tips to making sure you are appealing to brands who are likely to support you financially as a fitness influencer:

  1. Start Influencing Before They Hire You

It’s like the old saying goes, dress for the job you want and not the job you have. If you want to be an influencer that gets paid, then you need to be able to demonstrate that you have the ability to influence first. Produce the kind of content you’d expect brands would want to see. Focus on engaging with your audience so you have the stats to back up your claims of influence.

  • Post Reviews

Review products you’re not being paid to review to get started. Show you have the ability to sell a product and talk intelligently about them. Compare more than one product at a time too as this shows potential brand collaborators and your wider audience that you know what you’re talking about. Make sure you give your own opinion, don’t just share what’s on the label.

3. Show the Products

Show products and brands you use or support clearly. It’s no good you being almost naked in all of your photos and videos as the brands can’t sell their clothes on you that way can they? It sounds obvious but this is something so many influencers get wrong.

4. Educate Your Followers

Health and fitness has always been an industry with a huge focus on showing people how it’s done. It’s all about helping a customer to get from A to B with the help of knowledge and of course, the right products. Make sure you produce content which serves a purpose and enhances your viewers’ lives through sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practise or being genuinely motivational.

Take your time, script what you want to say and share valuable information. Ensure your workouts are easy to follow too.

5. Blog, You Must Blog!

Video is a great format. Live streaming is super engaging. Stunning pictures of your sculpted abs are impressive. But these alone are shallow at times. Back up your rich content with blogs. The written word on a page that can be visited by viewers and fans. This is evergreen content which you can grow and build on over time so that you have a heritage behind you and not just an Instagram account. What’s more, this also adds weight to your position as an influencer and gives you another channel to offer to brands, be used in campaigns and monetised to help you earn a living.
